After about six months, something amazing happened \u2013 a friend told me someone wanted to pay $100 to put an ad on my blog and I couldn\u2019t believe it!<\/p>\n
That $100 was a huge deal. It showed me that my little side project could actually earn money. I got really curious and started looking into how to make more money.<\/p>\n

Once I realized that I could possibly turn my side hustle into a full-time job, I knew I had to make a plan.<\/p>\n
But, when I started my side hustle, I didn\u2019t have a clear plan. I was just excited to make extra money.<\/p>\n
So, I sat down and wrote out what I wanted to achieve. My main goal was to replace my full-time job income pretty much as soon as I could.<\/p>\n
And, I also set smaller goals along the way. These included finding ways to diversify my business income and growing my traffic.<\/p>\n

Collect their email addresses to stay in touch and nurture the relationship by sending helpful updates or special offers. Word of mouth is also powerful \u2013 ask happy customers to refer others or leave reviews.<\/p>\n
6. I brainstormed challenges and how to overcome them<\/strong><\/h3>\n
When you\u2019re running a business, issues and challenges can happen all the time. By thinking about these ahead of time, you can possibly come up with backup plans so that you are not as surprised.<\/p>\n
So, I made it a habit to anticipate obstacles and think of solutions before they arose. I knew there would be tough times \u2013 slow traffic, technical issues, or even feeling overwhelmed \u2013 but planning ahead helped me stay prepared.<\/p>\n

At one point, I was working full-time both at my day job and on my side hustle business (around 100 hours per week). I did this so that I could make as much money as possible (and beef up my savings), as well as fully test out my side hustle with full-time hours.<\/p>\n
Before fully committing to your side hustle as your full-time career, it\u2019s a good idea to test the waters with a trial period. I like doing this because it gives you a chance to see how possible your side hustle can be without taking on the full risk of leaving your job right away. This was because I didn\u2019t want my debt to hold me back. I knew that blogging full-time was my dream, but I also understood the risks of self-employment. If I could eliminate my student loans first, I\u2019d have fewer financial worries (my monthly expenses would be lower after all).<\/p>\n
It also became a challenge for me to make as much as I could through my business, so it was nice to put all of this extra money toward my debt.<\/p>\n
I ended up being able to pay off my $40,000 in student loan debt in just 7 months, which was an amazing feeling and I\u2019m very proud of it.<\/p>\n
And, once my loans were gone, I felt ready to leave my job and focus 100% on the blog that had already changed my life.<\/p>\n
9. I made the leap<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Eventually, you have to make the leap and get over your fear \u2013 quit your job and actually pursue your side hustle full-time.<\/p>\n
It took me around two years to quit my day job and pursue my side hustle full-time.<\/p>\n
I realized it was time because I was spending around 100 hours a week between my day job and side hustle, and I simply couldn\u2019t continue with both much longer \u2013 it was tiring managing both and I didn\u2019t think it was worth it.<\/p>\n
Plus, I could clearly see that my blog income was growing steadily. It was exciting to see the numbers go up each month. Soon, I was making more from my blog than from my day job.<\/p>\n
This was a big moment for me. I had to decide if I should quit my job and focus on blogging full-time. It wasn\u2019t an easy choice, but I knew I had to try.<\/p>\n
Leaving my steady job was scary. I worried about losing a regular paycheck, but I also felt thrilled about working on something I loved (I really, really disliked my day job but I knew it was safe).<\/p>\n
The first few months were tough. There were days when I wondered if I made the right choice. Plus, everyone was telling me that I was crazy.<\/p>\n
But as time went on, things got easier. I loved being able to set my own schedule. It felt great to write about topics I cared about.
